Haha… there really is a double meaning to Knock on Wood. On the surface, it’s about someone who doesn’t want to lose the love they’ve found. But it also seems to refer to the sound of a bed knocking against the wall during sex. 😁
Amii Stewart will definitely get her own episode somewhere down the line. I’m making a mental note to find out whether she was aware of the song’s double meaning. I suspect she was, but I’m not entirely sure.
The funny thing is that once you start researching this subject, you discover far more examples than you ever imagined. 😁 I’m currently reading a book about LGBTQ+ artists and how they expressed their thoughts, desires, and love through hidden meanings and double entendres. It’s fascinating just how many there were.
I’ll definitely be doing more episodes on this topic.
