This week’s post is one in two parts. In the first part we set the stage for Kiss. How they were the first band to be signed to Casablanca Records, the record label of one of the key hustlers of the seventies record bizz : Neil Bogaert. And how an interesting duality was formed : Without Casablanca, KISS would never have reached such great heights, while KISS pretty much saved Casablanca from imminent disaster.

In part 2 we zoom in on what happened after the dreadful year 1978 when KISS overreached. The bad movie, the solo albums, and endless merchandising made them a parody of themselves. By 1979, they needed a reinvention.

And disco ruled the world.
